Radiation treatment, commonly used for cancer, can cause necrosis, damaging both healthy and cancerous cells. This damage may lead to non-healing wounds due to impaired blood supply, particularly in delayed radiation injuries that appear six months or more after treatment. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) helps repair radiation-damaged tissue by promoting blood vessel regeneration, stimulating stem cell growth, and accelerating wound healing. The benefits of HBOT in treating radiation-induced tissue damage have been demonstrated in several controlled studies.
